Civil Society Forum Featured Event: Gender-Responsive Social Protection and Economic Transformation in a Time of Reform

The event will explore gender-responsive social protection and gender-transformative economic outcomes, such as the care economy and actionable approaches, to resource transformative policies and deepen the WSSD dialogue in a time of UN reform.
The event will explore the following themes under the heading:
Gender-responsive Social Protection and Economic Transformation in a Time of Reform

The care economy - Creating a care economy and caring society that values women’s unpaid care responsibilities and contributions in the work force.

Gender-responsive social protection - Deepening gender-responsive social protection for all in a world of polycrises, intensifying climate emergencies, increasing feminization of poverty and entrenched systemic inequalities.

Gender-transformative economic policies - Promoting gender-transformative economies to reverse the ground lost on gender equality, women’s rights and within a reform agenda.
Objectives:

Share proposals on gender-responsive social protection for women and girls, in all their diversity, and marginalized communities, to deepen the dialogue for WSSD and ahead of the next Commission on the Status of Women’s focus on access to justice (CSW70);

Explore how the agendas of reform can be leveraged for advancing economic transformative proposals, actionable recommendations and resourcing for gender equality;

Share thinking-big dream ideas, strategies, and cutting-edge approaches to advance feminist push-forward proposals;

Foster multi-sectoral, multi-stakeholder dialogue and discourse among civil society, government, and institutional partners for gender equality acceleration.
Format: Fireside chat setting for an informal, interactive session designed to foster provocative high-level dialogue and bringing together various stakeholders, including governments, civil society, institutional stakeholders to discuss challenges and solutions for gender-responsive social protection and economic transformation.
