DDI Knowledge Hub Community Call on Platform Accountability

DDI Knowledge Hub Community Call on Platform Accountability | Forus

Strategic litigation is increasingly being used to hold tech platforms accountable. But what does it mean in practice, and how can civil society organizations — including smaller groups from the Global Majority — engage with it?

In this session, participants will:

  • Gain an introduction to strategic litigation as a practice.

  • Learn how it can advance digital rights and accountability.

  • Explore how even small organizations can contribute by documenting abuses, partnering with legal networks, or linking cases to broader advocacy.

Speaker

  • Alexandra Giannopoulou – Fundraising Lead & Legal Officer, Digital Freedom Fund (DFF). Alexandra is a licensed lawyer with a PhD in Law from the University of Paris II Panthéon-Assas, with extensive expertise in information law and digital rights. She has worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Amsterdam’s Institute for Information Law and is currently an associate researcher at the CNRS Centre for Internet and Society in Paris.

Moderator & Host

  • Maia Kahlke Lorentzen – Researcher, trainer, and consultant specializing in internet culture, cybersecurity, online activism, and digital self-defence. Maia is co-founder of Cybernauterne, offering training, strategy workshops, and security assessments for civil society.

This webinar is the second in a new fortnightly series, running from September to early December. The next session will take place on October 2nd.

This series is co-organized with Alicja Peszkowska, Communications & Community Consultant and part of the Humans Not Robots Collective.
