Internet Censorship Training
Forus invites you to a practical training session on Internet Censorship, where experts from the Open Observatory of Network Interference (OONI) will guide you in understanding the mechanisms and impacts of online censorship worldwide. At a time when access to information is central to the internet, civil society organizations are increasingly facing a paradox—efforts to improve infrastructure and technology are often accompanied by restrictions on access. Censorship measures, such as blocking, filtering, and monitoring, are implemented by both state and non-state actors to control online content. These actions may involve governments dictating what should be blocked or pressuring private tech companies to carry out surveillance and censorship. The training will equip participants with the skills needed to measure, detect, and address Internet Censorship, empowering them to advocate for digital rights effectively.
