Join us at the 2024 UN Civil Society Conference in Nairobi.
The UN Civil Society Conference in Nairobi this year will provide a space for civil society to meet ahead of the Summit of the Future in September 2024 to call and show the international community how to move towards the Summit's aspiration of “an international system – that is better prepared to manage the challenges we face now and, in the future, for the sake of all humanity and for future generations."
This international forum, expected to host some 1500 participants, will provide preliminary discussions and data ahead of the Summit of the Future in September 2024 at the UN Headquarters in New York.

Forus will be engaged in the following activities at the conference
- A workshop on the #SDG16Now Campaign ( May 9, 10:15 - 11:30 GMT+3 in Conference Room 7): This proposed interactive workshop will offer an introduction to the campaign, and an interactive, guided discussion amongst participants around priorities for the campaign’s five themes: Peace, Justice, Inclusion, Institutions, and Interlinkages & Financing. This session will not only explore the catalytic role of SDG 16 in achieving the Agenda 2030 goals at large, but also look to identify key SDG 16 issues across policy processes at global, regional, and national levels, and to connect to wider audiences beyond the SDG community.
- A workshop on the UNMute initiative ( May 9 at 13:15-14:30 GMT+3 in Conference Room 8): The 2024 United Nations Security Council presents a unique opportunity to strategize the path forward for the United Nations and the global community to advance the 2030 Agenda. The meaningful engagement of civil society, which contributes diverse expertise and perspectives to the UN processes, is crucial for ensuring success in these efforts. With the Summit of the Future ahead of us and ongoing efforts for an ambitious and comprehensive Pact of the Future, it is even more important to ensure that the UN is inclusive of diverse voices from across civil society groups and provides meaningful ways for civil society to engage in these processes. The proposed workshop will offer a unique space for civil society partners to contribute to the proposed upcoming “How to UNMute Manual'' with concrete, practical, and operational guidance tools for Member States who strive to deliver networked, inclusive and effective approaches to the participation of civil society at the United Nations.
