In a few days, the EU anti-SLAPP directive will be finally adopted. Against this backdrop, Global Focus, together with ICNL and CliDef, ar organising a webinar about Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation (SLAPP) – a repressive legal tool used globally to silence critical voices of human rights defenders, climate and environmental defenders, journalists, academics, and others who speak out to challenge powerful interests.

Activists will speak about their experiences of being targeted and through presentations from Nikhil Dutta (ICNL) and Charlie Holt (CliDef), the global and European trend of SLAPPs from a civic space perspective and get insights on the EU anti-SLAPP directive will be explored. Based on these experiences and insights, discussions on joint actions to prevent and push back on SLAPPs will take place.
