Improving the civil society contribution to the implementation of the SDGs
BOCONGO wishes to redefine its development agenda and strategy to mitigate the adverse effects of the pandemic, with three interlinked results that will ultimately improve the civil society contribution to the implementation of the SDGs. Firstly a plan for the monitoring of the implementation of SDGs will be developed by the different thematic working groups in BOCONGO. This will include a stakeholder analysis with academic institutions; it will be localized by five antennas in different regions of the country; and BOCONGO positions’ will be shared with a wide audience via print media and the radio. Secondly, BOCONGO will organize an inventory to understand its members’ needs and challenges to joining online debates, providing either equipment or training on the utilization of different software or social network. Thirdly, BOCONGO will develop a “Post Covid-19 Recovery Strategy and Sustainability Plan” with the goal of repositioning NGOs to contribute to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals. It will be developed in a participatory manner through key informant interviews, focus group discussions and questionnaires. Based on the content of the strategy, capacity development workshops will be organized in different regions, focusing on strengthening CSO resilience and disaster preparedness as well as possible collaborations with government, private sector and other development partners. This will reposition BOCONGO and its membership for enhanced monitoring and contribution toward the implementation of Agenda 2030.
