Ganga Bahadur Gautam
Nepal
Ganga Bahadur Gautam has been a strong advocate for youth empowerment in Nepal. He started as the president of a child club network in Dhulikhel municipality, where he helped create the district's first child-friendly local government. This early experience inspired his lifelong commitment to making a difference in society. Now, Gautam is the 14th president of Youth Initiative (YI), one of the leading youth-led organizations in Nepal. Under his leadership, YI has become a vital force for empowering young people and promoting important issues like democracy, climate justice, youth participation in politics and human rights. The organization works to inform, empower, and involve youth in meaningful ways. As a dedicated social work student, Gautam shows strong leadership skills and a deep concern for the challenges facing Nepali youth. He leads campaigns, training programs, and initiatives that help young people reach their potential and create positive change in their communities. With a vision for a fairer future, Gautam inspires the next generation of leaders, ensuring that young voices are heard and valued in the ongoing pursuit of progress and justice.
As a representative of the Yun Youth Organization in Nepal, I am deeply committed to advocating for digital rights and empowering marginalized voices within the digital landscape. I am motivated to become a Youth Digital Rights Advocate because I believe that young people must play an active role in shaping the policies that govern our digital lives. As digital natives, we face unique challenges that necessitate our engagement in discussions surrounding internet governance and digital policy. My goal is to ensure that the perspectives of young individuals, particularly from historically marginalized communities, are adequately represented and considered in these critical conversations. My experience encompasses work on youth and child rights issues, with a specific focus on advocacy and lobbying for digital rights in Nepal. I have participated in initiatives aimed at raising awareness about digital literacy and the protection of online rights.
