Regional coalitions

The Arab NGO Network for Development (ANND) is an independent and democratic regional civil society network founded in 1997 and coordinated from Beirut, bringing together civil society organizations from across the Arab region. ANND’s mission is to strengthen civil society and promote the values of democracy, respect for human rights, and sustainable development, in line with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. ANND works to enhance the participation of civil society organizations in the formulation of economic and social policies at national, regional, and international levels. Its work is carried out through advocacy and lobbying campaigns, the production of research and policy knowledge, and the dissemination of capacity-building tools aimed at reinforcing civil society engagement and influence. The network places particular emphasis on social justice, equitable development, economic reform, and the protection of open civic spaces. ANND has developed regional monitoring platforms, including observatories on civic space and social rights, to analyse trends, document challenges, and strengthen citizen voices in decision-making processes. ANND seeks to increase the impact of Arab civil societies in political and policy processes and to promote reforms grounded in human rights and sustainability principles, in response to the region’s current and evolving challenges.
