Popularizing and Increasing Citizens' Participation in the Voluntary National Review Process
National and local ownership is pivotal for achieving the 2030 Agenda. With only 7 years remaining until 2030, mobilizing all stakeholders is crucial for inclusive, efficient, and effective SDG implementation in Uganda. This project focuses on raising awareness and enhancing citizen participation in the Voluntary National Review (VNR) process. Through targeted activities, the project aims to establish dialogue platforms among diverse stakeholders and promote and localize the SDGs during VNR discussions. The outcomes of these engagements will contribute to the discussions that shape the 2024 Uganda VNR at both national and global levels. It is expected that the project will inform and make direct input into national consultation processes and 2024 VNR, or through the creation of a CSO contribution that will be informed by citizens consultations. As part of the process of generating momentum towards the country review at the high-level political forum, UNNGOF will also leverage media, especially social media to share citizens' perspectives, needs, and priorities related to the SDGs. The use of social media, given its unlimited reach will be critical to this strategy.
This project is supported by Forus in cooperation with the European Union.
