Reimagining Power: Join the March With Us movement for gender justice in 2025!

Every year, #MarchWithUs highlights innovative approaches in the gender justice movement.

Since 2021, we've shared the stories and co-created podcasts and documentaries with Forus members and over 50 activists, including Angela Davis, Aruna Roy, Alice Nkom, Lina Alhathoul, Line Niedeggen, Sonita Alizadeh, Matcha Phorn-in, the Instituto Marielle Franco and many more.

For the 2025 edition, we will adopt a year-long strategy to increase visibility of the March With Us stories, and unify advocacy efforts pushing for a gender focus on public policies across various international events.

This year’s focus “Reimagining power” explores:

  • Leadership, representation and “shifting powers”: for this year’s edition we will amplify the spaces and support for women leaders, particularly through the Forus Leadership Development Programme . We will explore the transformative shifts in global funding and representation ecosystem to support feminist movements and grassroot organisations advocating for gender equality. How can we work together to create fair and lasting solutions for gender equality? From stopping gender-based violence to redefining masculinities and femininities, and standing up for the rights of sexual minorities, how can we encourage open conversations, respect for different cultures, and new forms of collaboration to create shared understanding and ownership of solutions?

  • Accelerating Gender Equality - Building Momentum Beyond Beijing+30: We will focus on the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, and 2025 Review of SDG 5 on Gender Equality at High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) to rally international support for gender equality. Considering various events where the Forus network will be active, we will be setting the groundwork for coordinated advocacy at global, national, and community levels. Forus members will participate in the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) to advance this agenda. Learn more about our CSW69 session here!

  • Women and girls on the move: In the face of the current geopolitical context and conflicts around the globe, this year we will look at the intersection of women, peace and security, addressing the experiences of displaced women and girls. We will connect the struggles in conflict and humanitarian crisis zones, in particular in regions like the Sahel and Latin America, with the global movement for justice, sharing the stories of women’s leadership and participation in peacebuilding and conflict prevention. This effort will be conducted in partnership with Forus members and international partners like Children Believe
