EN - Beyond the Review: Lessons from Estonia on SDGs implementation and civil society engagement

Welcome to A Space For Us, the Forus podcast that brings together civil society national platforms, activists, thinkers and changemakers fighting for justice across the globe. Today's episode is part of our series "Beyond the Review", recorded on the sidelines of the High-level Political Forum taking place in New York from July 7–15, 2026. Estonia is presenting its third Voluntary National Review this year — a small but remarkably digitally advanced country that has embedded the SDGs into its long-term national strategy, and where civil society has consistently pushed to make sure that ambition translates into action. Here today is Iti Aavik, Head of International Projects at AKÜ — the Estonian Roundtable for Development Cooperation — a coalition of 36 NGOs working across development cooperation, environment, democracy, gender equality and global citizenship education, and a strategic partner to the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on sustainable development. This episode was developed with the support of the European Union and the Agence Française de Développement (AFD).
