Supporting our national members

Explore the diverse range of National Platforms projects since Cycle 1 to today.

 

Through shared decision-making processes and various resources, Forus members design, implement and report national projects that seek to strengthen the resilience of civil society in their country. Projects address the platform's most pressing needs and current priorities. A little bit of history follows:

Participation


Since 2017, almost all Forus members have participated in at least one National Platform Projects cycle. Forus partnered with national members to deliver 62 capacity development projects. Of these, four were implemented as consortium initiatives, encouraging collaboration, strengthening connections, and promoting mutual learning among members.

Process


Each cycle lasts between 12 and 18 months. In 2024, the Forus National Projects Partnerships transitioned to a collective focus on Organisational Development, partnering with 12 Forus members that completed the Organisational Assessment and developed a relevant, coherent, feasible and sustainable one-year project proposal to implement during the 6th cycle of this initiative.

Each cycle integrates 12–15 members at a time selected by a Peer Committee. Cycle 7 kicked off on January 2026 with the aim of strengthening our collective resilience through strategic evidence based advocacy and participatory action research projects. Partners of cycle 7 seek to enhance their capacities to influence, mobilise and advocate for the protection and defense of human rights, sustainable development and peace.

What to expect from Cycle 7: 2026-2027


  • Share data or evidence relevant to your national context in a participatory and inclusive manner for a Forus campaign/ joint statement 

  • Draft or co-draft a national advocacy plan 

  • Participate in at least one global/regional Forus advocacy product (statement, article, policy brief, event) 

  • Lead or co-lead a peer-learning session (e.g. Advocacy Lab, thematic exchange, Working Groups) 

  • Mentor or coach another member on advocacy practices 

  • Staff trained
