About Us

Our Governance

Forus’ governance is currently ensured by two key bodies: the General Assembly and the Council.

Forus General Assembly

The General Assembly (GA) is the ultimate decision-making body. The GA is the privileged moment when members gather to decide together on our strategy, revise past activities and plan for the future. It takes place at least once every three years in the form of face-to-face meetings. Online GAs are convened whenever necessary. The GA is composed of one representative for each full member (National Platform). The Regional Coalitions participate in the GA where they can voice their opinions but do not have a vote. The last GA was held from May 13 - 17, 2024 in Gaborone, Botswana.

Forus Council

Elected every 2 years by the GA, the Forus Council is made up of 15 members, with a regional distribution of seats. Its role is to ensure the implementation of decisions and strategic and political orientation voted upon in the GA, ensure the coordination of activities and the proper functioning of the executive team, and report on its activities and management.
