FONG-STP: listening to members to prepare a new phase
The Federation of NGOs of São Tomé and Príncipe, FONG-STP, has begun its own Structural Support journey in a different context. The platform maintained its activity, recognition, and an important history of work on issues such as citizenship, rights, public budget monitoring, participatory budgeting, human rights, and civil society representation. At the same time, it identified the need to strengthen its strategic leadership, improve communication with members, update institutional tools, and support member NGOs in project management and resource mobilization.
The process with FONG-STP moved forward with the development of a questionnaire for members, aimed at better understanding how they perceive FONG-STP, their willingness to participate more actively, and their vision for the future of the relationship with the Federation.
This point is central. A national platform is not strengthened only by its leadership. It is strengthened when it returns to listening to its members, understands their expectations, and turns that listening into concrete priorities. Once the questionnaire and planning tools are completed, the platform will be able to move forward with the implementation of the first actions with support from Forus.
