What is the workshop about?

In environments where civic space is under threat or closing, effective communication is at the heart of survival and advocacy. This workshop supports civil society organisations with practical crisis communication strategies to navigate restrictive environments and to be on the lookout for opportunities.

By exploring best practices by Forus members, tools, and tactics, the session will develop multilingual checklists to respond strategically to communication challenges, making our voices heard even under pressure. 

Forus members will strategise on how to:

• Safeguard messages and people

• Use innovative ways to engage communities and audiences

• Maintain our organisation's credibility and impact during a crisis

• Discuss recent challenges in the social media landscape, particularly in the realm of content moderation. We will explore alternative platforms while looking at how X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, and Instagram are reevaluating their moderation policies, leading to big shifts in how content is managed and perceived.
