Introduction to HLPF 2022
The world continues to face major challenges, from climate chaos to the Covid-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine. In this context, how can we make sure that all countries keep the 2030 Agenda on track?
One of the main annual review points for the 2030 Agenda is the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF). This year’s HLPF will take place from 5-18 July 2022 on the theme of “Building back better from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) while advancing the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”. The full agenda can be found on the UN DESA website here.
The thematic sessions will include discussions on a number of key SDGs under review this year, including: SDG 4 on Quality Education; SDG 5 on Gender Equality; and SDGs 14 and 15 on biodiversity on land and in the water. The Voluntary National Reviews will take place in the second week, with 45 countries under review, you can find the searchable database of VNR countries here.
