Strengthened NGO cooperation and monitoring for enhanced ownership over SDGs in Slovenia

The aim is for the project will contribute to stronger positioning of civil society in policy-making on development cooperation, and to enhanced SDG ownership in Slovenia. While civil society (through National Platform – NP) has been represented in Slovenia’s presentation of the Voluntary National Review (VNR) of the 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development implementation at the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) in 2017, it has not contributed significantly to drafting of the report.

The Agenda is still not embedded within various line ministries and NGOs, and Agenda issues are still addressed in silos-like manner. Upon 3rd anniversary of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), stronger efforts are needed in localizing the SDGs, through promotion of cross-sectorial partnerships, and enhanced civil society monitoring of the SDGs. The project will contribute to stronger positioning of civil society in policymaking, and enhancing the SDGs ownership in Slovenia through:

  • Enhanced SDG monitoring capacities of civil society, through drafting an alternative report on SDG implementation in Slovenia;

  • Established cross-sectorial and multi-stakeholder partnerships for SDGs on national level;

Strengthened membership engagement through revived NP’s Policy Working Group (WG), in preparations for Slovenia’s EU Presidency in 2021.
