The Second World Summit for Social Development

Discover how the Forus network is engaging in WSSD2, taking place in Doha, Qatar, from 4–6 November 2025.

Thirty years after Copenhagen, governments will gather in Doha to renew commitments to social development and accelerate progress towards the 2030 Agenda.

 

Forus members from across the globe are preparing to bring their voices, priorities, and experiences into this conversation. This page will highlight their initiatives, reflections, and campaigns as we build momentum together.

About the Summit

 

 
From 4–6 November 2025, discussions will focus on three core pillars of social development:
  • Poverty eradication
  • Full employment and decent work for all
  • Social integration
Cross-cutting debates will address inequalities, demographic shifts, digital transitions, and the social dimension of sustainable development. A new Political Declaration has been negotiated under the co-facilitation of Belgium and Morocco, aiming to reinvigorate commitments made in Copenhagen in 1995 and give fresh momentum to the 2030 Agenda.

The Second World Summit for Social Development (WSSD2) – November 2025

From 4–6 November 2025, Heads of State and Government will gather in Doha, Qatar for the Second World Summit for Social Development. Thirty years after the landmark 1995 Copenhagen Summit, WSSD2 will aim to reinvigorate commitments to the Copenhagen Declaration and Programme of Action while galvanising momentum toward the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
