High-Level Political Forum 2026

Explore how the Forus network is actively contributing to the 2025 High-Level Political Forum, held from Tuesday, 7 July, to Wednesday, 15 July 2026 in New York, through events, reports, and civil society leadership.

As we approach the final stretch toward 2030, the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) remains a key global moment to assess SDG progress and push for stronger, more inclusive action.

Forus will be present with a strong delegation of members and partners, spotlighting local solutions and civil society leadership.

What is the HLPF?

The HLPF is the United Nations’ central platform for the follow-up and review of the 2030 Agenda and its 17 SDGs. It brings together governments, civil society, UN agencies, and other stakeholders for:

  • In-depth thematic and SDG reviews
  • Voluntary National Reviews (VNRs) by Member States
  • Side events, learning sessions, and networking

This year’s theme:  “Transformative, equitable, innovative and coordinated actions for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its Sustainable Development Goals for a sustainable future for all.”

SDGs under review in 2026:

  • SDG 6. Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all
  • SDG 7. Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all
  • SDG 9. Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation
  • SDG 11. Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable
  • SDG 17. Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development.

/ Forus Report Launches #HLPF2026

Forus’ new global report looks at ways to make South-South and triangular cooperation more inclusive, accountable and effective.

It presents 20+ case studies and experiences from across the Forus network, offering practical insights on how to increase peer relationships, contextual relevance, flexibility, shared learning and governance design.

Forus

The future after 2030 is being shaped now — through narratives, alliances, political choices, and decisions about who gets to participate. The post-2030 conversation is not only about future goals. It is about participation, accountability, financing, and the political values that will shape international cooperation in the years ahead. That is why civil society must engage early, strategically, and collectively.

Forus is launching a collective civil society vision on what must be defended, demanded, and declined as this debate unfolds.

Drawing on national and regional consultations and scenario mapping with our members and partners, the report identifies key advocacy opportunities and sets out clearly what we defend, demand, and decline — our 3Ds for a credible post-2030 agenda.

Our new report also sketches out possible futures — from continuity to reset or even fragmentation — and explains the current global context that will influence the next development framework.
